Claudia Brown-Mosley has her cake and she's eating it too!

It’s been over six months since I’ve started this Authors N Focus blog and have interviewed up and coming authors from around the country, but you know there comes a time when you have to promote your hometown writers and Claudia Brown-Mosley is one of them. She’s a rare L.A. native with a hot new book and creator of a brand new magazine you’ll find out later on. Telling us why we should have our cake and eat it too, is Claudia!

Charles:Claudia, I'd like to talk about your latest and greatest book entitled, "I Can Have My Cake and Eat It Too" Can you tell us what it's all about and could you tell us about the main character in the novel?
Claudia: It'sThree best friends who share a special bond, the bond of sisterhood.

Charles: There are two other characters named Sabrina and Ebony. How do their stories related to what Taytana is going through with her husband?
Claudia: Taytana is the one who head is on straight and she helps out the other two.

Charles: Are there any other characters we should look out for when we're reading this fine book?
Claudia: Watch out for Ebony who will smile in your face, but you better not turn your back to her!

Charles: What was your inspiration for writing the novel? You're a married woman so I assume you can speak for Taytana's perspective but what about Sabrina and Ebony's?
Claudia: I wasn’t married all my life so I can relate to all of the women problems that all three goes through. LOL

Charles: I understand you wrote a previous novel before "I Can Have My Cake and Eat It Too". Would you please share with our readers what your first book, "One Time Too Many" is about?
Claudia: It’s a mystery that this man has skeletons in his closet and as his girlfriend gets closer and closer they slowly comes out.

Charles: "One Time Too Many" is a suspense/mystery novel. What particular genre do you love to write? The mystery or the romance or it doesn't matter?
Claudia: Mystery is my first love that is what I started reading first and than slowly moved to the romance.

Charles: How do you feel about the reactions to "I Can Have My Cake and Eat It Too"?
Claudia: It feel good for people to read my writing and enjoy it and make it into something that they might have experience or going through.

Charles: Has it been encouraging?
Claudia: Yes, it encourage me to keep writing and writing. Challenging? It’s challenge me to keep writing and don’t stop.

Charles: Claudia, you're not only a rising star in literature, but you're also a publisher as well. One of your projects is a new magazine called Big Time Publishing. What convinced you to produce a magazine focusing on other up and coming authors?
Claudia: We as authors don’t get the attention that we deserve. So what the magazine do is get us out there and to promote literature in every way.

Charles: What are your goals for Big Time Publishing? Do you see it on the racks of the independent and bigger name bookstores?
Claudia: Yes I do see this in the future.

Charles: What challenges have you faced so far?
Claudia: The bigger name bookstores like what I write but don’t want to put it on the self because I’m self-published. But that is not going to stop me because I have to show them better than I can tell them.

Charles: Who are the authors featured in your first issue?
Claudia: Gena Garrison, the author of Baring It All

Charles: You also hold online chats featuring different authors, is that right? What do you discuss in those chats?
Claudia: Anyone can join the chats and we discuss from the author book to whatever else to help promote the author him or her.

Charles: Claudia, what advice can you give new and aspiring authors who hope to follow in your footsteps?
Claudia: Just keep writing and your dream will come true.

Charles: How can our readers get in touch with you? You're on MySpace aren't you? :)
Claudia: Yes, you can find me at www.claudiabrownmosley.com or http://www.myspace.com/claudiabtp

She was always N Focus: Bebe Moore Campbell

Note: Sometimes it hurts when one of your own leaves this earth much too soon, or maybe we should accept the fact that when it's our time, it's our time and what you've done in between birth and death can have an impact on others. Bebe Moore Campbell was one of those individuals. May her family find peace in this difficult time.
