Charles K. Campbell: The Keeper of The Magic Coin

The gentleman posing with me is author Charles K. Campbell, author of The Magic Coin. Besides sharing the first name, Charles loves to create positive images in literature as much as many authors do. He's also one of the few individuals who posted a blog about his work on The Huffington Post. Check out the link and find out what's behind The Magic Coin and the buzz it's generating. If you want to hear more about Charles, hear the latest Mixed Matters interview (African Marketplace 2008) and find out what Charles is working on next, as well as his future plans involving his masterpiece.

Maya's Locs by Norman Burton

This Authors N Focus spotlight is directed at children’s book author Norman Burton and his masterpiece, “Maya’s Locs” (Milligan Books)

Here’s a brief description of the book:

Maya would cry every time her mother combed, pressed or permed her hair. This made her mother unhappy and she knew she had to find a solution.

One day, while walking through the bookstore, Maya and her mother discovered the perfect hairstyle for Maya–locs! When they went home that night Maya’s mother began to twist Maya’s hair and soon the twist turned into locs.

To find out how this ends for Maya, please visit Milligan Books and Amazon.com.

Let Norman know how you feel about his book by picking up a copy for yourself!
